Background
Alyssa Quintanar is a California native from the San Fernando Valley who moved to San Francisco in 2009. A dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher, she began her yoga journey in 2012 and immediately felt called to teach. She completed her 200-hour RYT Certification in 2013 with Cloud Nine Yoga in Hawai‘i before returning to San Francisco to teach Hatha yoga.

Alyssa soon discovered Bikram Yoga and developed a deep connection to the 26&2 practice, finding it transformative for both mind and body. As she immersed herself in the Bikram community, her passion for the practice only grew. In 2018, she expanded her teaching by becoming an Inferno Hot Pilates instructor, later adding Classic Hot Pilates, Yin, and Restorative Yoga to her repertoire.

After two years of home practice, she returned to in-person teaching in 2022, feeling called to step back into the heat and share her love for the 26&2 Beginners’ Series. She pursued teacher training with the International Yoga Sports Federation (IYSF) and began teaching the sequence that had profoundly impacted her life. In 2024, she deepened her expertise by studying the Intermediate series of Yoga Sport with IYSF.

Despite years of structured, disciplined practice, Alyssa was drawn to Buti Yoga for its intuitive and expressive nature. It challenged her to break past mental and physical barriers, expanding what she believed she was capable of. In 2025, she became a Buti Yoga instructor, incorporating primal movement, dance, and dynamic flow into her teaching.
Alyssa’s classes encourage students to listen to their bodies, push past limiting beliefs, and cultivate self-trust. She emphasizes intensity through control rather than force, helping students engage their muscles efficiently both on and off the mat. Her approach focuses on simple, functional movement to build strength, mobility, and stability for everyday life.

Her classes are welcoming to all body types and experience levels, prioritizing low-impact yet effective movement. Alyssa’s mission is to keep you moving, empower you through your practice, and remind you of the strength you already hold within.
