Background
Jill Jordan was inspired to be a yoga teacher after reading Paramahansa Yogananda’s book, Autobiography of a Yogi. She took her first Bikram yoga class in 2003 under the insistent recommendation of a good friend. “Honestly I did the two week trial just to tell my friend I tried so that she would stop insisting.” Well, after the first class, her friend was right. She loved the experience and could feel the healing effects immediately. In addition Jill met her future husband and best friend at Bikram Yoga Decatur, GA. After reading Autobiography of a Yogi, and having a couple years of practice, Jill describes that she, “felt called” to teach this yoga. Her then boyfriend and yoga teacher and now husband helped and supported her to attend Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Fall of 2005. Jill describes this a one of the best and most challenging experiences of her life.
After graduating in 2005, Jill taught in the Bay Area ( Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Orinda and Oakland for 6 years before relocating to the North Shore of Oahu, HI where she taught at Bikram Yoga North Shore and taught and managed the studio, Bikram Hot Yoga Mililani in Mililani, HI. Then returning to her native Georgia she brought her best and experienced teaching to Bikram Yoga Marietta where she was Lead Teacher which included supporting and inspiring other teachers by helping teachers to understand the Bikram Yoga Dialogue. After finishing her training in 2005 she would return to subsequent trainings in Los Angeles, and even mentoring a student whom attended Bikram Yoga teacher training in Thailand in 2014.
Jill understands that all Hatha Yoga (the physical/asanas) is beginning yoga and her greatest passion is helping people begin this beautiful journey of self realization. She believes strongly and you will hear her say it often in class, “the ultimate goal of yoga is self realization”.
